Our Way of Working

Team roles

  • 1x Engagement Manager: managing client counterpart to enable their leading of the project, fill in the storyline and improve where needed.
  • 2x Analyst, leading upskilling and customer satisfaction tracks.
  • 1x Principal Architect: leading feature to market track.
  • Associate Partner: managing sponsor relationships, unlock necessary resources on client side, delivery risk owner.
  • Responsible Partner: managing client relationship, escalate up top, owner of the final storyline delivered to the client.

Cadence

Project:

  • [week 0] Kick-off — align on client context, goals, and the three tracks the engagement will explore.
  • [week 0] Team learning — onboard the team to working norms, set team norms, surface each member's development goals.
  • [weeks 1–11] Engagement — run the weekly and monthly cadence detailed below.
  • [week 12] Hand-over — after final steerco, produce the hand-over docs and file them in both client and Firm secure systems.

Warning: this project repository contains all engagement documents, including non-client-facing, non-shareable information such as our team's internal development goals. Take extra care to clean sensitive info out before hand-over, but file the entire repository on the Firm's side as is.

Weekly:

  • Mon — Sprint plan — set the week's priorities and assignments across the three tracks.
  • Tue — Problem solving 1 — work through one open question with the partner.
  • Wed — Sponsor check-in — align on progress, escalate blockers with the client sponsor.
  • Thu — Problem solving 2 — deep-dive on a second open question with the partner.
  • Fri — Sprint review — close the week, review outputs, capture decisions.
  • [bi-weekly] Client demo — show working artifacts to the wider client team.

Monthly:

  • Steering committee — present progress, decisions, and risks to the steering body; secure direction.
  • Sponsor round-table — informal sync with the sponsor on direction, politics, and signal-checking.

Team norms

Daily standups at 9:30am, client-time. Format: achieved yesterday - to be achieved today - impediments stopping me. PS topics separately with identified participants.

No meetings scheduled after 6pm.

2-3 days before steerco may be stretched, after steerco solving 2-3 hours timeboxed immediate items then free time for team.

Weekly 2 hours of PS with partner. Always align messaging with sponsor before demos and steercos.

Monthly team dinner. Monthly client-team dinner.
